When 2016 arrived, I was determined to make moves. Goals and affirmations were written down in pen and I convinced myself to step out of my box. I’ve always heard of people making vision boards/boxes to claim their success, but I never created one myself. I just couldn’t figure out how I would work up the energy to go in a creative mood not involving writing.
On Sunday, January 17th I attended the Vision Board Soireé at Sparkle and Shine Darling in Miami Beach. Sparkle and Shine Darling is a heaven for ladies who love stationary and decorations for their office/home space. Not only will you find your encouraging coffee mugs and pencils, but you’ll also find your favorite quotes on slim fitting t-shirts. This beautiful event was hosted by Adrienne Bosh, owner of Sparkle and Shine Darling, and Latham Thomas, founder of Mama Glow.
Immediately when I walked through the door I was greeted by the shining personalities of multiple employees. The décor in the boutique was strategically placed in color schemes and catches your eye as soon as you enter. I was so overwhelmed with the quality and quantity of the displayed products, I forgot the purpose of my arrival. I was ready to buy just about everything in the store to stay organized in a fashionable manner. But none the less, I found the young lady checking in attendees for the soiree. Once again, I was greeted by a beautiful personality and smile.
After checking in I was greeted with a glass of champagne accompanied by a table full of magazines, sharpies, glitter, glue and scissors. The room I created in was full of positive and driven women. Everyone around me was focused on bringing their vision to life. Each picture being cut out of magazines had a different story for each woman in the room. The creative process I observed was versatile and unique to each individual. After a bit of brainstorming and conversation, everyone was invited to the main show room to hear from Adrienne and Latham.
Once everyone gathered around, you could feel the empowerment of women and the creative mode going into full force. Adrienne welcomed us with open arms accompanied by a heart felt introduction and explanation of her vision for Sparkle and Shine Darling. Her vision was to see the boutique filled with beautiful and amazing women fellowshipping and encouraging one another. It was an absolute honor to be a part of the moment her vision came to life. After viewing the vision boards she created years ago she introduced us to the guest speaker, Latham Thomas.
Latham informed us about the process of creating vision boards and persuaded us to have meaning behind it. Instead of throwing pictures and quotes onto the board, she encouraged us to think about what we wanted out of 2016. Here are a few things she mentioned to get out wheels: what we wanted out of the new year, how would we bring those things to life, when we wanted to accomplish our goals by, etc. Latham’s humble and genuine words pepped me up to take my board to the next level.
Both of these ladies were encouraging and welcomed each person to ask questions and take pictures. Without this event, I would not have completed my vision board. The soireé gave me a sense of obligation to stop being lazy and create a beautiful piece of work that displays my vision. Not only was I able to create, but I also networked with a few ladies and bought a dainty coffee mug from the boutique. If you’re still in the mood to create and show your vision, it’s not too late. Write the vision and make it plain.
